The county will receive $1.5 million in state and federal reimbursements for emergency repairs made during the 2009 flood, which damaged numerous roads, bridges and drainage structures.
Of that amount, $773,989 in Federal Highway Administration funds will go to the Gwinnett Water Resources Department for repairs made to drainage culverts, such as on Five Forks-Trickum and Harmony Grove roads in Lilburn and on West Park Place Boulevard in unincorporated Stone Mountain.
“These funds cover about two-thirds of the repair costs at these locations and are a welcome addition to the reimbursements already received,” Lynn Smarr, acting Water Resources director, said in a released statement.
