Evermore CID Still Seeks Director

But projects are moving forward, according to the interim director.

After two years of turmoil and turnover, there are clear signs that Evermore Community Improvement District (CID) projects are moving forward.

All except one, that is. The Board of Directors still has not named an executive director for the self-taxing group of business owners along U.S. Highway 78, including portions of Snellville, Lilburn and Stone Mountain.

Interim Executive Director Wayne Hill told Patch Monday that none of the ongoing projects that are on the planning board have been delayed.

"Last year things got hung up quite a bit," Hill said. "But this year, it's not like that by any means. Everything is moving right along."

For example, the CID celebrated the grand opening of the Yellow River Pedestrian Bridge on June 10.

On Thursday, a Public Hearing Open House has been scheduled from 4-7 p.m. to provide information and hear public input on the Hewatt/Parkwood/Britt project which is aimed at improving safety, mobility and access by providing a parallel access street.

Hill, who makes the long commute from Suwanee each day to fulfill his duties, has been offered the position, but has declined.

"The main thing is it's too far from Suwanee," he said. "There is just no easy way to get here. But I won't leave them in the lurch."

The executive director serves as the CID's Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for managing all day-to-day operations of the organization.

There have been 27 applicants for the position which has a salary in excess of $125,000 but Chairman Chip Adair said no decision was made and more interviews may be held.
