Good morning, Lilburn. It's Monday, July 11. Here's our daily rundown of things to know today.

  1. Gas Price Hike: After decreases for most of the summer, the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is headed in the wrong direction again. The lowest price in Lilburn Sunday night, according to GeorgiaGasPrices.com was $3.46 at the on Stone Mountain Highway. That’s eight cents more than the lowest price we found on July 1. It was good while it lasted.
  2. Idol Revisted: In case you missed it, Lilburn Idol began its eighth season Friday at . We captured the fun in and .
  3. World Population Day: You may not know this, but today is World Population Day, which seeks to raise awareness of our growing population and the issues that arise from it. The event was “born” from the Five Billion Day on July 11, 1987, when it was estimated that the world’s population hit 5 billion people. The United Nations estimates that the number will hit 7 billion this October.
  4. Bring On the Heat (Please don’t): The heat index will be in the 100s over the next couple of days as some of the hottest weather of 2011 hits our area. After highs well into the 90s today, Tuesday will be even worse. Forecast highs for Tuesday: 97 by WeatherBug.com, 98 by Weather.com and up to 100 by the National Weather Service. Know your body’s limits when you are active outside this week.
