Good morning Lilburn. It's Thursday, July 7. Here's your daily dose of info you can't get just anywhere.

  1. Looking Out for No. 1: The Lilburn Farmer’s Market, which runs 4 p.m.-8 p.m. every Friday through the summer in downtown Lilburn, is in the running to be named the top farmer’s market in the nation. But it’s going to take a little help from visitors like you. Visit  www.farmland.org/vote to vote for Lilburn in the 2011 America’s Favorite Farmer’s Markets contest (hosted by American Farmland Trust). The contest runs through Aug. 31, when one large, medium, small and boutique-sized winner will be named. Vote early (and often).
  2. ‘Get In Gear’ for Seniors: Interested in helping our seniors get to where they need to go (like medical appointments and other necessary errands)? Gwinnett Senior Services is looking for transportation providers through its new voucher program called Get In Gear. The program is open to companies, churches, schools, charitable organizations and othere facilities with suitable vehicles. An informational session will be held at 4 p.m. July 14 at the Gwinnett Senior Services Center, 567 Swanson Drive in Lawrenceville. Info: 678-377-3019 or e-mail getingear@gwinnettcounty.com.
  3. Fill ‘Er Up: Seems that every time we check GeorgiaGasPrices.com, the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline has fallen. The “cheapest” gas found in the Lilburn area as of midnight was $3.38 at the on 490 Pleasant Hill Road, at Burns Road.
  4. Weather Soup: We’re in the soup, all right. It’ll be a chunky 88 degrees with a 40-percent chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. The humidity will be a you-gotta-be-kidding-me 68 percent, according to Weather.com.
  5. Georgia History: On this date in 1914, the Georgia General Assembly and Gov. John Slaton agreed to slice off portions of Gwinnett, Jackson and Walton counties to create Barrow, the state’s 149th county. Heavyweight boxing champ Ezzard Charles of Lawrenceville was born on this date in 1921. For more Georgia factoids for July 7, click here.
