Five Things You Need To Know June 20

Here's your daily dose of what to know today.

Good morning, Lilburn. Here’s a digital check list for Monday, June 20.

  1. Hot-lanta Heats Up: Weather.com predicts today’s high temp to be 96 degrees with 59-percent humidity in what can only be described as sauna conditions. Technically, summer doesn’t begin until Tuesday, although it’s been around for a month now.
  2. Monday’s Fill-‘Er-Up: According to GeorgiaGasPrices.com, the lowest price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Greater Lilburn entering the week was $3.49 at the Kroger station at 3050 Five Forks-Trickum Road near Oak Road and the QuikTrip at 4900 Stone Mountain Highway.
  3. Yellow Air: The Georgia Clean Air Campaign said the Air Quality Index for Monday is expected to be 83, in the Code Yellow, or moderate, category.
  4. Telephone Town Hall: The Atlanta Regional Transportation Roundtable will be calling Gwinnett residents tonight at random beginning at 7:15 p.m., asking them to take part in a town-hall meeting to discuss possible transportation projects to be funded if a regional one-penny sales tax referendum is approved next summer. Residents will be able to talk about their priorities with Gwinnett’s roundtable reps Board of Commission Chair Charlotte Nash and Norcross Mayor Bucky Johnson. You can dial in without being called — call 1-888-886-6603 and enter the PIN 16724.
  5. Help Stop Crime: With the number of car and home break-ins recently in the River Drive/Killian Hill Road area of Lilburn, Hanarry Estates home owners will meet with Maj. Dan Branch, commander of Gwinnett Police District II , to discuss crime trends and issues. The meeting is scheduled  Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Hanarry Swim and Racquet clubhouse.
