Former Lilburn Company Accused of Illegal Exporting

Apego Inc. is accused of dumping cheap Chinese paper products in the United States, and avoiding duties.

Executives from Apego Inc., which previously operated out of Lilburn, are accused of transporting Chinese paper products to Taiwan and then bribing officials there so the products could be illegally exported back to the U.S. -- stamped with "Made in Taiwan," according to a report on WSB TV.

The U.S. Department of Commerce began investigating the company in May 2006. And, now the officials say the company has avoided some $20 million in duties owed to America, WSB TV reported

At least one company official appeared in court recently, and is now released on bond.
