Hot Blogs: Philosophy, Weather, Gardening and More

Since Patch rolled out our new and improved blogging platform, many of you have taken advantage of it. (If you're interested in hosting your own blog with Patch, scroll to the bottom for a few simple steps!)

Local resident and philosopher Paul Dragu recently mused about our dependency on the internet for socialization, as well as what society would be like without it.

"Without the internet people would actually talk to one another when going out together," he writes. "Attention spans would be heightened because people wouldn’t be distracted and eager to respond to every vibrating beep indicative of an Facebook invitation to play Zombie Payback."

Patch's weather blogger, Steve Brueck, keeps us up to date with severe weather alerts and what we can expect throughout the week. So far we've found him to be very reliable!

Photographer Robert Carney shared his incredible photos of a trip to an alligator farm, while State Representative B.J. Pak reflected on the diversity of various Gwinnett County schools.

Star Gregory, a traveling veterinarian, is currently on a mission to raise money for dogs with heartworm. She hopes to provide free heartworm tests and medication to 100 dogs from low-income households.

"I am very excited about this project and I know that with your help we can raise the money that is needed," she writes. "Heartworm disease is a horrible illness that is very easily prevented."

And for you garden enthusiasts, Wallace Gardens Botanicals shared tips on pollination. Finally, Dr. Michael Duckett, a chiropractor, offered tips on pinched nerves and low back pain.
