Expect inside lane closures on I-85 during off-peak hours today as part of the I-85 Express Lane Project. The currecnt HOV lane is being converted to a HOT lane by the Georgia DOT.  The road work will only happen if weather permits.

The daytime work will occur between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. today, June 2 between Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Pleasantdale Road. Expect the inside lane in both the northbound and southbound direction to be closed.

The nighttime work will occur between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. today.

The project includes the installation of 16 miles of fiber optic cable along I-85 and SR 316. When the project is complete, transit buses, motorcycles, alternative fueled vehicles and vehicles with three or more passengers will be allowed to use the inside HOT lane for free, while single- and double-occupant vehicles can pay a variably priced toll to use the lane.
