Late Miscues Hurt Parkview In Loss At Peachtree Ridge

Panthers' season opener is a 28-14 loss to Peachtree Ridge.

If not for some crucial mistakes that led to three Peachtree Ridge touchdowns, the Parkview Panthers could very well be 1-0.

But the Panthers were their own worst enemies in Friday's 28-14 loss at Peachtree Ridge in Parkview's season opener.

Peachtree Ridge returned two fourth-quarter interceptions for touchdowns — 33 yards and 35 yards — to pull away from a 14-14 tie.

A Parkview fumble midway through the second quarter led to a 35-yard touchdown run by Peachtree Ridge's Jordan Ellis on the very next play to give the Lions a 14-7 lead.

Justis Rosser gave Parkview a 7-0  8:19 into the game on a 9-yard run. He then scored on an 18-yarder with 45 seconds left in the third quarter to tie the score at 14-14.

Parkview well on defense for most of the game. Peachtree Ridge's lone sustained drive went 83 yards for a touchdown late on the first quarter. Other than Ellis's long run after the fumble, the Panthers held the Lions mostly in check.

Kicker Eric Autry was effective in kickoffs and punts. All three of his kickoffs went for touchbacks, and two of his punts were inside the 10 — at the 6 and the 2.

Check back later for more on the game.
