Lilburn Christmas Parade: Santa is Coming to Town

The Lilburn Christmas parade on Saturday will have at least 1,200 people in the parade, including, of course, Santa.

Outta the way, turkey: Santa Claus is coming.

He'll be in the Lilburn Christmas parade on Saturday, Dec. 3, along with about 1,200 other people who plan to walk or ride in the parade.

There will be marching bands, of course, antique cars, sports teams and more, said organizer Andrew Bell. Grand marshal is Chopper, the Gwinnett Braves' mascot.

Stick around afterward for dancing, music and the chance to have your photo taken with Santa in the city park. The Knights of Columbus will be serving hot and cold drinks and snacks there.

It's a chance for kids who might not get an opportunity at the mall to see Santa "up close and personal," Bell said.

There's no charge to be part of the parade - though the organizers would like a donation of $35 - and you can still sign up.

All proceeds go to the Lilburn Cooperative Ministry, and there will be a collection bin for canned foods for the nonprofit, too.

Last year, Bell said, $1,000 plus canned food was raised for the co-op, a charity that helps those in need.

"This year, we're hoping to get more than that," Bell said.

The parade starts at 10 a.m. at the corner of Church and Main streets, and will end in front of city hall at 76 Main Street. Performances and photos with Santa in the park will start right after the parade.
