Man Wanted in Connection to Armed Robbery at Lilburn Dollar Store

Police believe Artavius Brown is responsibile for more than 20 armed robberies that took place at Family Dollar and Dollar General stores in the metro Atlanta area.

Police are on the lookout for a suspect connected to more than 20 armed robberies that took place at Family Dollar and Dollar General stores in the metro Atlanta area, including Lilburn.

According to Sgt. Joey Smith with Henry County Police, authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Artavius Brown, 23, of Stone Mountain. The BOLO was issued June 14, and as of the afternoon of June 18, Brown has not been arrested yet.

He is the primary suspect in two armed robberies that took place at dollar stores in that county last week, in addition to other area robberies recently. Brown's uncle, Raphael Rainey, is believed to be his accomplice and has been arrested in DeKalb County.

In the Lilburn incident, the alleged robbery took place at the Family Dollar at 5279 Lawrenceville Highway on June 6.

When the suspect walked into the store at 12:20 p.m., the employee recognized him from another robbery at a store off North Druid Hills Road where she also worked.

She gave her co-worker the phone and told him to walk outside the front door and call the police. He didn't understand her request, so authorities were not called until after the suspect left the store.

According to the employee, the man walked around the store for a minute before approaching the register. He stopped, picked up a can of Pringles potato chips and presented it to the clerk.

He reached into his pocket and produced a handgun, says the employee. Lifting the gun to her, he quietly ordered her to give him all the money. She complied and handed him the money. He got out his cell phone as if he was texting someone and left the store.

According to 11Alive, Brown is described as being 20 years old, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. Anyone who has information on Brown's whereabouts should contact Detective Combs with Henry County Police at 770-288-8261 or ecombs@co.henry.ga.us.
