Old Town Happenings: Ghost stories and Dog Walking in the Warm Sun

A weekly look at what's going on in Old Town Lilburn.

New faces were seen on Main Street this past weekend. Some were human, some canine and some, well, you’ll have to decide for yourself!

Ghost stories told in bright sunlight made those at Sally Toole’s book signing shiver in the warm afternoon. Sally sat outside signing her two books, “Remembering Norcross” and “Souls Of Norcross,” as she talked about the history surrounding many ghost stories. Sally is also a writer for the Norcross Patch. Look for Sally to visit Old Town in the fall with an evening of storytelling by candlelight.

Saturday was a perfect day to take your dog for a walk. Jim and Monika Lahey brought Jindo to Main Street to shop, then headed to the park for some exercise. Jindo is named after his breed, an agile, spitz-like hunting dog from the island of Jindo, Korea. The Jindo is one of three native breeds of Korea and was designated as a national treasure by the Korean government in 1938. You can see what a beauty this boy is.

A mannequin dressed in vintage finery, complete with old lace, rhinestones, a saucy hat and spiders was seen Thursday evening in a booth at . This mannequin has taken up residence on Main Street and watches traffic from an Old Town shop window. She is very curious about her new surroundings, but seems to be enjoying the view.

Stop by Main Street any Saturday afternoon, whether you are shopping, dog-walking or on your way to the park. You might be the perfect subject for a photo op and become part of Old Town Happenings.
