SafetySmart Lilburn Wants Your Pets Protected

The dog was not up to date with a rabies shot and the family could not afford to quarantine the dog for six months to see if it was infected. They had to make the difficult decision to have their dog euthanized in order to protect themselves and their children.

Rabies is a viral disease that causes inflammation of the brain in warm-blooded animals. It is transmissible from animals to humans, most commonly by a bite from an infected animal. For a human, rabies is almost invariably fatal if post-exposure treatment is not administered prior to the onset of severe symptoms.

The rabies virus infects the central nervous system, ultimately causing disease in the brain and eventual death. There is no treatment for an animal with rabies.

We understand that in hard economic times things like vet care are often delayed.  Because of this close to home scare, SafetySmart Lilburn wants to help families, pets and the community.

We have organized a  with assistance from Dr. Star Gregory of Zutilla Veterinary Housecalls.  The clinic is planned for Saturday, Sept. 8, from 9 a.m. to noon. 

Shots are $10.00 per shot, no other fees apply and cash only. The clinic will be located in the field across the Railroad Tracks from Lilburn City Hall.  Signs will be posted to direct you.
