Severe Weather Possible for Lilburn Thursday Evening

Large hail, lightning and winds up to 70 miles per hour could occur from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. June 13.

The National Weather Service warns of the possibility of severe weather Thursday evening (June 13).

Widespread thunderstorms, brief heavy rain, strong wings up to 70 miles per hour, frequent lightning and large hail could occur, according to the alert. Showers and thunderstorms are likely from the afternoon to 10 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, the chance of rain is 60 percent.

A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE INTO NORTH GEORGIA THIS AFTERNOON AND MOVE ACROSS THE AREA THROUGH TONIGHT. THE FRONT WILL BE SUPPORTED BY AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE AND WILL ENCOUNTER AN INCREASINGLY UNSTABLE AIRMASS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ALONG AND AHEAD OF THE FRONT AND PROGRESS SOUTH TO SOUTHEAST THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. THERE IS ENOUGH UNCERTAINTY THAT WIDESPREAD SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE AREA.
