Georgia Congressman Hank Johnson (D, 4th District) announced he’ll seek a fifth term, according to a press release issued by his office.

Johnson, of Lithonia, has represented the 4th District since 2007. The district currently includes parts of the Decatur, Stone Mountain, Lilburn, Norcross, Loganville and Snellville areas in DeKalb and Gwinnett counties.

“I am proud of my strong record in Congress and look forward to meeting new voters and constituents and continuing to work for the people of Georgia’s Fourth Congressional District,” Johnson said in the press release.

Johnson announced his candidacy in front of a large group of supporters Saturday, Feb. 22, at the grand opening of his campaign office in Lithonia.

Johnson will be opposed by at least one other candidate. DeKalb County Sheriff Thomas Brown said he will step down to challenge Johnson.
