“I am running because we need an ethical, conservative leader in the Senate who will make us proud and work hard to deliver conservative reforms to improve this district and our state," said Martin in a release.
Martin has served on Lawrenceville's city council for the past eight years. In August, he announced he would not seek re-election.
His last victory was a hard fought one. The November election resulted in a runoff between Martin and former Lawrenceville Mayor Rex Millsaps.
Martin is a Lawrenceville native and works for the family-run business Hood Insurance Agency. Martin serves on the board of the Professional Insurance Agents of Georgia as well as on the board of Providence Christian Academy.
Martin and his wife Amanda have two children, Charlotte and Kuhl.
