Arcado ES Celebrates International Walk to School Day

Arcado Elementary will Walk-N-Roll to school to celebrate International Walk to School Day.  Parents and students from Arcado Elementary School will be

walking and biking to school, practicing pedestrian safety skills and celebrating the health and environmental benefits of walking or biking to school.

From 7:30-8:10 am, walkers

and bikers will be welcomed and assisted across

the street by a Lilburn Police Officer volunteer, and greeted at school by

none other than Captain Planet!  Teachers and members of Arcado ES PTA will award stickers and other prizes and punch cards will be provided as an incentive to

continue walking or biking.  All participants’ names will be displayed on a large

“Reducing our Carbon Pawprint” banner in the school. The walkers/bikers are

featured on the school’s morning news show, and children who live farther than

1 mile away are encouraged to make posters to promote exercise and environmental stewardship. Please look out for pedestrians and support the event's success.

The event is being

organized by Arcado ES PTA Environmental

Committee

and PE Teacher. Arcado has participated annually since 2008

and maintains Gold Level partnership with SRTS.

The school was named the NE GA School Champion/Partner of the Year and

awarded the Golden Shoe Award in 2013.
