GA Walk-n-Roll To School Day

Arcado Elementary School in Lilburn will celebrate Georgia Walk to School Day, Wednesday, March 6, 2013. Approximately 50 students, parents and staff from Arcado Elementary School are expected to walk or roll while celebrating their health and wellness, as well as the environmental benefits of walking to school.

Please look out for walkers and bicyclists, most with their parents or siblings, as they are welcomed at school by teachers and members of the PTA Environmental/Wellness Committees.  Students will receive stickers and other prizes that show their participation and punch cards to encourage them to continue walking or biking when the weather permits. Participants names will be displayed on a large “carbon footprint” banner in the school.

Georgia Walk to School Day complements International Walk to School Day held each fall, and approximately 65 schools around the state participated in 2012. Arcado has participated in both walks annually since 2008 and is being highlighted by the Safe Routes to School program in 2013 for their efforts to promote the events based on Education, Encouragement, Enforcement and Evaluation.
