Community Corner

Smart Lunch, Smart Kid Information Session

My name is Michael Cranford and I am the Tucker Coordinator for the Smart Lunch, Smart Kid summer feeding program at Action Ministries, a nonprofit agency that helps the hungry, homeless, and working poor.

Every day in Georgia, more than 800,000 children receive a free or reduced-price lunch at school, but free lunches end when summer begins. In 2012, we launched Smart Lunch, Smart Kid,which provides lunch for many of these children throughout the summer. What began as a distribution of over 100,000 lunches in 2012 grew to 210,055 lunches in 2013. This summer, we want to do our part as a community to accomplish even more.

Please join us for our Smart Lunch, Smart Kid 2014 Information Session – WednesdayApril 2 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Tucker First UMC in the Activities Center located at 4315 Church Street, Tucker, GA. Come learn more about this important program and how you can get involved. Volunteer lunch-makers, drivers, and enrichment leaders are always needed.

Hunger doesn't take a holiday and neither do we. I hope you will partner with us in this effort—to care for the children in our communities.

Attendees will be entered into a raffle for a prize!
