Walmart Foundation Helps St. Vincent de Paul Society with Hefty Donation

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, which has a thrift store location in Lilburn, received the donation to help fund its food distribution program.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, which has a thrift store in Lilburn, has received a $100,000 charitable donation from The Walmart Foundation to help feed families in need.

The donation will benefit the nonprofit's Food Recovery and Distribution Program. The grant will allow the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Georgia (SVdP) to buy materials to expand its existing food distribution.

Officials said it will eliminate some barriers to service, including time and distance, among other things.

"We continue to seek new ways to expand our services to provide more Georgians with the opportunity to obtain healthier food and Walmart Foundation's grant will help us accomplish this next step," said John Berry, SVdP's executive director and chief executive officer.
