Arbor Day At R. D. Head Elementary School

Local State Farm Agent and GFWC Lilburn Woman's Club member Lisa Richardson has as much fun delivering seedlings to 4th graders for Arbor Day as the kids did acting out State Farm commercials.

On Wednesday, February 20th, I had the best time celebrating Arbor Day at R. D. Head Elementary School! In partnership with the Fourth Grade Foresters Project, I donated loblolly pine tree seedlings to the entire fourth grade class at R. D. Head.

My arrival time was strategically scheduled during science period for the children. When I entered each classroom, the children made me feel like a rock star! When they saw my name tag and the State Farm logo, they started acting out some of the more popular State Farm commercials. It made me proud to represent such a widely recognized brand.

Before I left each class, I was allowed to briefly explain the importance of Arbor Day to the environment. I encouraged the children to have an adult help them plant their seedling in a prominent place in their yard so they could watch it grow.

I have participated in Arbor Day events in the past, but none quite as rewarding as this one. This was my first time donating seedlings to fourth graders, but it won't be my last. I hope R. D. Head will let me come back next year.
