Lilburn Resident Teeka Sailors Dies Without Urgent Liver Transplant

The funeral is scheduled for April 6.

Teeka Sailors was told by doctors that she needed a liver transplant within five months, according to friend and Snellville resident Kathy Hildebrand, or her chances for survival are slim.

On April 3, she passed away. She was 49.

Sailors' church family at Killian Hill Baptist Church had formed a group called "Team Teeka", and hosted a number of fundraisers for her. Even if she had a transplant, she would have needed immune-suppressant medications for the rest of her life.

On average, these cost around $20,600 to $32,900 per year, according to the Georgia Transplant Foundation.

On March 6, Sailors was rushed to Piedmont hospital for internal bleeding.
