Starry Nights Abound in Lilburn

Local would-be artists help fund a new art scholarship.

Local would-be artists gathered for a fun-filled Saturday morning searching for and discovering their inner Van Gogh.

The Lilburn Woman's Club recently hosted the fourth in their series of "So You Think You Can Paint" beginner art classes, raising funds for a new art scholarship to be presented to a local high school student sometime next year.

The class was taught by former art education teacher Teresa Hyke-Foster and local artist Pat Shaver using a large poster of Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night as inspiration.

After a brief introduction to paint mixing along with various techniques using vegetables, sponges and brushes, the classmates took off to their own worktables with everyone finding their own unique method of expression.

Plans are underway for the next art class in the series coming soon, so keep an eye on the Patch Events calendar to book your space.
