Time to Peek behind the Window Boxes

Take a look at what's inside this beautiful home and meet your new neighbor

Do you remember these window boxes?  With construction now complete, I was recently invited to tour this fabulous new home on Tom Smith Road, meet the new owner and learn a bit more about our new neighbors.

Meet Donna Bryson and her very large guard dog, Diesel. Bryson is an entrepreneur, a mother, a grandmother, an armchair interior designer and a gardening enthusiast. She is the owner and President of Atlanta Milling Co. specializing in road construction and paving and knows what good construction is supposed to look like.

It turns out that Bryson is not new to Lilburn at all. In fact, she grew up in and around the Killian Hill area and attended both Trickum Middle School and Parkview HS. Most of her immediate family lives within a five-mile radius from her new home and that’s just the way she likes it. She decided to stay in Lilburn because it’s a great place for family, "but we need more good restaurants nearby," she states emphatically.

When asked why this particular location for her grand new home - being so close to the Yellow River Water Treatment facility - she very pragmatically tells me that she fell in love with this house plan after months of research, then had to find an empty lot that was long enough to accommodate the elongated layout.  “And they are wonderful neighbors,” says Bryson of the Yellow River Water Treatment facility management team.

With all of the technological upgrades that have been made over the past several years in addition to the new entrance that is underway, it’s going to be a very peaceful and clean area when the dust settles.

She laughed when we talked about some of the rumors flying around about perhaps winning the lottery or being married to a famous athlete. No, she assures me that she is happily married but not to a famous athlete. This is the third house that she’s built on her own and after years of working in the construction business, she knows how and where to find materials and labor at very economical prices. Being able to sell her previous homes at a profit and serving as general contractor for her new home made it all possible.

Some of the interior rooms are still being finalized, but here are a few photos of the finished space for your enjoyment.

If you’d like to see this beautiful home in person, Bryson will be participating in the Tour of Homes hosted by the Touchdown Club at Parkview HS coming up on December 4.
