20-Year-Old Arrested Twice in Same Week

Inside the Police Reports: A young man was arrested twice in July for disorderly conduct in the Cedar Creek subdivision and underage alcohol possession in Mountain Park Park.

A 20-year-old was arrested twice late last month for disorderly conduct in the Cedar Creek subdivision and underage alcohol possession in Mountain Park Park.

On July 24 around 11 a.m., a Gwinnett County firefighter reported a noise complaint in the Cedar Creek subdivision. According to the police report, the 20-year-old, who also lives in the neighborhood, was playing loud music from his car, then got out and started to skateboard through the neighborhood's tennis courts. The young man was also yelling and screaming at residents, according to the report.

When police attempted to talk to the skateboarder, he only yelled and used profanity at them, too. He told police that he wanted to go to the neighborhood's pool, but because everyone thought he was Mexican, they wouldn't let him in the pool.

The suspect also called himself "retarded" and "stupid." The police asked him why he started skateboarding in the tennis courts, which he wouldn't answer and would only cry.

Police could smell alcohol in his breath, but the suspect denied that he had been drinking. He admitted to playing his music loudly, though.

Residents interviewed by police said that the suspect had yelled, "I'll kill myself before I kill anyone else!" and other similar statements.

Later, the officers spoke with the suspect's father, who said the family has grown increasingly concerned with his son's behavior. His father said in addition to a drinking problem, he believes his son has some sort of mental disorder but hasn't been diagnosed.

He was arrested for disorderly conduct. Police reported that the suspect displayed severe mood swings, from crying to being defiant and argumentative, while in the police car to jail. At one point during the arrest, he even begged police to drop him off at a local church.

He wasn't arrested for underage intoxication until the next incident on July 30.

In the second incident, he was with a 23-year-old Snellville resident. Police were doing a routine area check of Mountain Park Park when they saw the two sitting on the ground with an open beer hiding behind the car's tires. Three more beers were inside the car, which the suspects willingly pointed out, according to the report.

The 20-year-old admitted to drinking the alcohol and the older man admitted to supplying him with the alcohol.

The younger suspect was arrested for being a minor in possession of alcohol and having an open container in a county park. The other man was cited for possession of alcohol in a county park and furnishing alcohol to a minor.
