70 Gallons of Fuel Spills Near Highway 78

Gwinnett County fire crews and the hazardous materials team responded to the scene.

The fuel tank of a box truck ruptured and spilled about 70 gallons of diesel fuel Thursday after a vehicle collided with the truck at the intersection of Bermuda Road and West Park Place Thursday morning in Stone Mountain, the Gwinnett County fire department said.

Gwinnett County hazardous materials response team also came the scene to take care of the fuel leak, which was redirected from the storm drains using special equipment. The fire department said all environmental agencies were notified and trucking company's clean-up crew responded.

The driver of the passenger vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital, the department said.
