Bonfire Turns Into Armed Robbery

Inside the Police Reports: An armed robber decides to crash a bonfire.

A young man was sitting at a bonfire with his friends earlier this month when someone tackled him from behind and put a knife against his throat, demanding money.

According to the Gwinnett County police report, the 19-year-old was at a friend's house in the Killian Hill Manor subdivision on the evening of Nov. 8.

Around 9 p.m., a large man wearing a face mask came out of nowhere and tackled him from behind, knocking him to the ground. The man grabbed him by the neck and placed a knife against his throat, the report says.

The victim told officers that the man asked for all his money. The suspect also advised that he would cut his throat if he screamed.

He told the robber that he had nothing on him. He told police that he attempted to grab the knife away from the man.

Luckily, one of the victim's friends was able to place the suspect in a headlock while the victim got away to call police. According to the friend, the suspect backed him into a fence and ran away, heading toward the front of the house and out of sight.

The victim had a cut on his right hand and dirt on his face and clothing. No serious injuries were reported, and nothing was reported stolen.

The man is described as a large, stocky white male who's approximately 6 feet tall and around 215 pounds. He has dark eyes and a shaved or buzzcut hairstyle. The suspect was wearing glasses, but the bonfire crew was able to obtain them during the incident and they were given to police.

The report currently lists no suspects.
