Buford Man Killed in Hit and Run Accident

Edward T. Harley of Buford was struck by a vehicle going northbound on Buford Drive at approximately 2:00 a.m.

In a press release today, the Gwinnett County Police Accident Investigation Unit (A.I.U.) said it is investigating a hit-and-run accident involving the death of a pedestrian in an accident which occurred on S.R. 20 (Buford Drive) between Satellite Blvd and South Lee Street.

Investigators with A.I.U. have identified the pedestrian as 61-year-old Edward T. Harley of Buford. Mr. Harley was struck by a vehicle heading northbound on Buford Drive just north of Satellite Blvd and died on scene as a result of the injuries sustained in the accident. The vehicle did not stop and continued north on Buford Drive; it was last seen turning right onto South Lee Street.

Corporal Ritter with Gwinnett County Police Department stated that "investigators are looking for the driver and a vehicle that has plastic missing from the headlight cover and a shattered side window." They are diligently following up on all leads as this investigation continues.
