Burglary Suspect: 'I've Been Doing Illegal Things Today'

A man said something strange to Lilburn Police when they arrested him in connection to a home burglary Sunday.

"I'm sorry to disturb you, but I've been doing illegal things today," said a Lilburn man when officers arrested him in connection to two home burglaries.

Robert Sidney Anderson III, 22, was arrested Sunday morning (Aug. 4) and charged with two counts of burglary.

According to the Lilburn Police report, officers arrived at a residence on the 100 block of Trickum Landing near Arcado Road around 9 a.m. and spoke with a homeowner who said someone had kicked in his back door and taken several items, including computers, mail, a camera charger and a desktop monitor, totaling to $1,600.

The victim's Web cam had taken a picture of a man approaching the door, though. He showed police the photo, which showed a white male wearing a neon green safety shirt, blue jeans and tan work boots.

After police finished clearing the home, a suspicious person call came in that described a man wearing the same outfit on the 100 block of Village Green Ct. down the street. A woman alleged that he had asked to pressure wash her home.

When police tracked him down, his shirt was off nearby and his pants were wet. Another officer said he was trying to kick in another back door of a home off King David Drive in the next neighborhood.

Authorities were able to arrest him without incident, and they found the first burglary victim's possessions in a backpack Anderson had. He made the "illegal things" remark after officers discovered the items.
