Couple Indicted in Grandfather's Death

A Cobb County Grand Jury has indicted Casey Ryan Collins and Sarah Elizabeth Cook in connection to the killing of Collins' grandfather, Edward Smith, of Lilburn.

A man and his girlfriend were indicted Thursday (Aug. 1) in the killing of his grandfather, a Lilburn man. 

According to Fox 5, a Cobb County Grand Jury indicted Casey Ryan Collins, 30, and Sarah Elizabeth Cook, 23, on charges of malice murder, felony murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault and concealing the death of another person. 

Police say Collins' grandfather, 78-year-old Edward Smith, wasfound dead May 7 inside his truck in Mableton, Ga. A few days after the couple's arrest, Cook admitted to authorities that they "are responsible for his death" and drove the dead man's truck around metro Atlanta with his body still inside the vehicle.

According to Cook's admission, Smith was in his parked truck in the driveway of a residence at 365 Kemolay Rd. when she and Collins "assaulted" him. This occurred five days before police found his body.
