Did Road Rage Lead to Reported Assault?

Inside the police reports: A 50-year-old woman was allegedly slapped in the face by a male after his car almost sideswiped her daughter's car.

Each week, Lilburn Patch takes a deeper look into recent crime reports from the Gwinnett and Lilburn police departments.

Earlier this month, Gwinnett Police met with a 23-year-old and her mother, 50, at the Publix shopping center on Five Forks-Trickum Road in regards to an assault and apparent case of road rage.

The daughter told police that she was driving on Five Forks when a man in a sedan almost sideswiped her car, then slammed on his brakes and screamed, “You [expletive], where the [expletive] are you going?”

According to the victim, he threatened to kill her and he spat at her car. While closely behind her, she said he followed her into the shopping center, where she met with her mother, who was at the Fitness 19 gym.

He continued to yell at her as the mother stood between the two cars and tried to intervene, the victim told police, adding that after the mom told the suspect to move and leave her daughter alone, the suspect slapped the mother and said “I’ll [expletive] kill you, too.”

She said he continued to scream and eventually drove away, almost sideswiping the mother and daughter, again. To add more oddity to the situation, the 23-year-old said a small child was in the suspect’s car.

The two victims told police that he had a South Caroline tag on his car, which was either a black or blue Honda Accord, Nissan Maxima or something similar. They gave police two different, but similar, license plate numbers. Police weren’t able to find an exact match to their tag and vehicle descriptions, but concluded the closest candidate was a 2004 Honda Civic with a close match the tag number.

There is nothing further at this time, but the case is still active.
