Dog Bites Lilburn Officer on Arm, Owner Says She Deserved It

The dog owner said it was because the officer wanted to have sex with her brother.

While the K9 demonstrations went on at Lilburn's National Night Out on Tuesday (Aug. 6), another dog biting incident occurred just the week before, this time on a Lilburn Police Officer.

According to the incident report, a female officer was bitten by a gray pitbull during a domestic incident at a local home. She was taken the hospital where she received five stitches.

The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday (July 30) on the 500 block of Penrod Place, near Harbins Road. Officers arrived to find a 24-year-old woman, Arrica Harrison, and her 22-year-old brother, who both live there.

The sister, who was erratic, vulgar and screaming, did not want him staying at the home anymore, so she changed the locks.

She told police that she did not have a temporary protection order or eviction notice for her brother, though, which is needed for her to officially kick him out of the home. The reason why she didn't file for it, she said, is because it was his birthday and she was "trying to be nice," but also because she didn't have the funds for it.

Officers repeatedly asked her to calm down and stop using profanity, but she ignored it. At one point, a female officer walker toward Harrison, who ran into the home and locked the door. The officer asked her to come outside, and she complied.

The officer attempted to put Harrison in handcuffs, but instead the sister ran back inside, dragging the officer with her. In the home, the owner's pitbull latched to the officer's right arm, so another officer punched the dog between the eyes. The officer also had the dog at gunpoint but did not shoot.

Police were able to get Harrison into handcuffs, despite her resistance, and she was taken to the Gwinnett County Jail. On the way there, she kicked the car door and said the female officer was just mad because she wanted to have sex with her brother and she got what she deserved. Harrison also requested to go to the hospital when she heard the injured officer was being transported to the hospital, too.

Harrison was charged with obstruction and disorderly conduct.
