Elderly Loganville Siblings Were Victims of Murder Suicide
A 76-year-old Loganville man shot his 85-year-old sister in the head before turning the gun on himself in a church parking lot Sunday morning.
A 76-year-old Loganville man shot his 85-year-old sister in a car in the First Baptist Church of Grayson parking lot early Sunday morning before turning the gun on himself.
According to Gwinnett County police, Clarence Porter of 946 Village View Circle in Loganville shot 85-year-old Avis M. Whitley, 85, in the head and then turned the gun on himself inside the van.
Police responded to a report of a murder suicide at the First Baptist Church early Sunday morning and arrived to find the bodies of the Porter and Whitley in the van in the parking lot.

Police said the two, who shared the residence in Loganville, were siblings. Investigators reported that they have learned that Whitely suffered a severe stroke several weeks ago and was in poor health, but they have not yet determined the motive for the murder-suicide. The investigation is ongoing.
