Family Catfight Ensues Over $300 at Bus Station

Inside the police reports: A Lilburn woman started hitting her stepmother at a local bus station after she denied taking her money.

A woman was arrested after an employee at a Greyhound bus station in Norcross called police to report a fight in the parking lot earlier this month.

According to the Norcross police report, an officer arrived at 2105 Norcross Parkway around 10 p.m. on a recent Tuesday to find two women fighting.

The women were: a stepmother, 50, and stepdaughter, 35, from Lilburn. The older woman, who had a hold of the other woman's shirt, accused her stepdaughter of trying to take her purse.

The younger woman told police that her stepmother had stolen $300 from her dresser that morning. Once she returned home from work, the money and her stepmother were gone, so she went to the Greyhound station to confront her.

The stepmother denied taking the money and refused to give her any money. The stepdaughter then slapped her in the face and head, took her purse and tried to dump its contents on the floor. She attempted to run outside with her purse, and the older woman tried to stop her but was knocked to the ground.

A Greyhound employee, who called authorities when he saw the argument and fight escalate, confirmed with police that the stepmother bought a bus ticket for $190 with cash.

The stepmother had $100 on her person. She also had a red mark on her cheek, which is consistent with the allegations.

The stepdaughter was placed under arrest. She was charged with battery and cruelty to children in the third degree, since her daughter witnessed the incident from the car.
