Family Unharmed in Small Norcross Apartment Fire

Fire was contained to one unit of apartment complex.

A mother and two children escaped harm Wednesday morning in a small fire at an apartment unit in Norcross, fire officials said.

Crews found light smoke when arriving at the apartment building in the 2500 block of Windsor Woods Lane N.W., Fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said. Firemen quickly extinguished the fire which was contained to a laundry room and sent smoke through the apartment.

The woman had reportedly used the dryer prior to the fire erupting, Rutledge said.

Firefighters removed a dog from the apartment during a search. The dog was apparently uninjured, Rutledge said.

Management at the complex was helping the family find a place to stay.
