Fire Destroys House on Indian Way

The house wasn't occupied and no one was injured when a fire broke out Friday morning.

A fire that broke out Friday morning totally destroyed a house on Indian Way in Lilburn, the Gwinnett County fire department said.

The house wasn't occupied and no one was injured, according to Capt. Tommy Rutledge of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

"The blaze caused a total loss of the structure," Rutledge said in an email.

People who had been living in the house returned Friday morning and told firefighers that they are in the process of moving out. Only a "few minor contents" were found inside the house, Rutledge said.

The blaze was already intense by the time firefighters responded at about 6 a.m. Friday. They were able to prevent it from spreading to nearby houses.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
