Fire Reported at Old Allied Plant

Metal building sustained heavy damage.

Firefighters are investigating a fire that heavily damaged a building at the old Allied Plant on Killian Hill Road Wednesday night.

According to Gwinnett Fire spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge, firefighters responded to the fire at 7:28 p.m. after a report by a passerby.

The vacated plant is located at 140 Killian Hill Road near the railroad tracks.

Firefighters found the vacant building — described as a "three-bay (metal) type building" — engulfed in flames on arrival.

Crews had difficulty getting close to the fire immediately due to concrete barricades and fought the fire in a defensive mode (from the outside)

The cause of the fire is unknown. No injuries were reported.
