Fired Lilburn Police Chief Will Not Seek Appeal

City Manager Issues statement on John Davidson's termination.

There has been a resolution between the City of Lilburn and its former chief of police, who was fired a week ago.

In regards to John Davidson's termination on Feb. 28, Lilburn City Manager Bill Johnsa emailed the following statement at 5:40 p.m.:

"This matter has been resolved in a manner that is satisfactory to all parties involved. The parties have agreed otherwise to comment no further."

Asked via email if this meant that Davidson has decided against his planned appeal and that the two sides would part ways, Johnsa emailed, "This resolves the appeal in its entirety. And, yes, John is no longer employed by the City of Lilburn."

Monday was the deadline for Davidson to file an appeal, which he indicated through his attorney last week that he would do.

Davidson was fired after five years with the department due to Johnsa's concerns about the direction of the department. In the termination letter, Johnsa said, “It is my determination that we need to move forward with a new management style and one that will continue to build the trust, confidence and respect from the officers and personnel of the t.”

Deputy Chief Bruce Hedley is the interim chief until a permanent replacement is named.
