House Fire Causes Heavy Damage

No injuries were reported at the home near Five Forks.

A house fire was reported on the 1100 block of Carla Joe Drive near Five Forks shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday.

The fire caused heavy damage to the roof and the rest of the home. A family of four (two adults and two children) lived in the home, but no injuries were reported, according to Gwinnett Fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge. Rutldge said in an email that the family are beiong assisted by family and friends.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire and smoke coming from the back of the split-level home, particularly the attic and second floor. Crew members were able to knock down most of the fire through hoselines and bring it under control.

The family who had been renting the residence was not at home at the time of the fire. Neighbors had reported the fire to authorities.

The exact cause of the fire was not known.
