Four Charged in 'Entering Auto,' Theft Cases

Three men and one woman were charged with various crimes related to the spate of 'entering autos' and theft that took place in Lilburn in August.

Remember all those "entering auto" cases the police reported back in August? The Gwinett County police have arrested one man and issued arrest warrants for three others in cases related to that series of crimes.

Kemtpon Greaves of Stone Mountain was arrested Nov. 16 as a suspect in the "entering autos" and thefts that took place on Aug. 8, when several cars were broken into in the 4400 block of Aberdeen Road in unincorporated Lilburn. The keys to a 2002 Lincoln Blackwood pickup were taken, and later that day, the pickup was stolen along with the trailer carrying two jet skis that was hooked up to it. Greaves is charged with three counts of entering auto and four counts of theft by taking motor vehicle.

Police found the jet skis and trailer at Lake Lanier on Aug. 10, and Nathaniel Johnson, 24, was charged with theft by receiving. He was released on bond before the police found out that a Ford F-250 truck he had was also stolen. It had an altered VIN number, and that number was the same as for one legally registered in Alaska.

Johnson and his sister, Tina Johnson, are also charged in connection with a stolen Cadillac Escalade that the two sold to a car broker for $20,000, less than half the market value the vehicle, Cpl. Edwin Ritter said in a release.

The broker, Craig Davis, 24, of Covington, was charged with theft by receiving motor vehicle and one count of possession of a motor vehicle with an altered VIN. Investigators said the Johnsons had "presented several red flags to Mr. Craig that the vehicle was stolen and Mr. Craig purchased the vehicle anyway."

Warrants have been issued for Davis and the Johnsons. They are not in custody. The investigation is continuing, Ritter said.
