“All you heard was screams.”
That’s how a Lawrenceville, Ga., woman described what it was like on the Atlanta-bound bus that crashed in a Virginia snowstorm early Monday morning.
Shanora Moore was one of 54 passengers on a Princess Tours bus the flipped on its side around 4 a.m. on Interstate 95 near Stafford, Va. Four people were hurt, but none of the injuries were considered life-threatening.
WSB-TV said the bus was expected to arrive around noon in Doraville.
There was no official word on the identities of the injured, but WSB said a family member of Maxine Jackson said she suffered a broken rib. Jackson was referred to as being from metro Atlanta.
Virginia State Troopers charged the driver Quilong Xioa, 50, with reckless driving. Speed was apparently a contributing factor.
Moore, who was teaching cosmetology classes in New York, said the driver was worried about running out of gas and sped up.
"I said, we're going to get in a car wreck, and as soon as I said that, we started fishtailing. We fishtailed and did a half of a 360, and ended up on our right side."
