Heavy Damage in a House Fire on Cannon Hill Road

One resident was taken to the hospital for exposure to smoke.

Gwinnett firefighters battled a Friday night fire that caused heavy damage to a home in the 2200 block of Cannon Hill Road in Lilburn.

A family of three adults escaped the fire. One resident was taken to the hospital for treatment of exposure to smoke, and was in good condition.

The fire occurred after 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17.

RESIDENTIAL HOUSE FIRE AT  2200 BLOCK OF CANNON HILL ROAD, LILBURN

DATE: JANUARY 17, 2014

TIME DISPATCHED:  8:38 PM

TIME ON SCENE:  8:40 PM

TIME UNDER CONTROL: 9:04 PM

"Gwinnett County Fire Crews were called out to a residential fire incident at the above address.  Caller to the 911 dispatch center was the homeowner who with the rest of the family was able to get out before Fire Department arrival.

Heavy smoke and fire was found coming from the garage and apartment above it. Fire crews entered the house and did two thorough searches as the fire was being knocked down with fire attack hose lines.

All residents were accounted for.  The garage, upstairs apartment and the roof sustained heavy smoke and fire damage. One resident was transported a local area hospital in good conditions for treatment  of exposure to smoke. No other injuries were reported. The family of three adults will not be displaced and will not need Red Cross assistance.

A Gwinnet County fire investigator was called to the scene for cause determination. The incident is currently undetermined and under investigation.
