Lockdown at Hopkins Elementary School Lifted

The Lilburn school was under lockdown for an hour after a suspicious person was spotted near the campus.

Update 2:27pm-

The lockdown at Hopkins Elementary was lifted at about 1:50pm. The school on Dickens Road in Lilburn went on lockdown for about an hour starting at 12:50pm Tuesday.

"A student saw a person around the school and notified adults at the school, so the school went on lockdown as a precaution," said Gwinnett County spokesman Jorge Quintana.

Students at Hopkins should be released from school at their normal time of 2:45pm says Quintana.

"School resource officers and Gwinnett County Police were at the school just to make sure there was not anything suspicious on campus," adds Quintana. He also says resource officers will continue to search the area after school is done for the day.
