A Rhett Butler Drive resident told police that she never locks her front door, but she probably will in the future.
According to a report, burglars ransacked the woman’s house and stole her son’s Wii video-game system, a Sony hand-held player and several discs on July 7 or 8. They were valued at $600.
The woman said she was gone from her residence to visit a family member in the hospital from 8 a.m. July 7 until 2:30 p.m. July 8. She told police that some other family members were at the house, and they told her they left through the front door without locking it.
“She advised she never locks her front door,” according to the police report.
When she returned home she noticed things were scattered all over the place, and some items had been tampered with. Nothing else was stolen.
The case is still active.
