Inside Police Reports: Called for Another Offense, PD Arrests Security Guard

Lilburn Police says he wasn't state-certified.

On June 20, Lilburn Police were called to a pain management clinic in reference to a man taken into custody by the on-site security guard.

The man, who drives regularly from Kentucky for his treatment, asked the therapist if he could skip his massage and just get his prescription filled. He was seen on video approaching several other customers in the lobby. When he asked if he could purchase their prescriptions, they alerted employees at the clinic.

The manager and the security guard approached the man and brought him to the back office and asked him to leave through the back door, without going through the lobby again.

The man went through the back to his car, but told the guard he was not going to leave and to "call the police." He sat in the passenger side of the car and when the security guard approached, the car began to roll.

After the guard deployed his taser, the man got out, was handcuffed and brought back into the office.

Police asked about what possible charges they expected against the man and were told that he said he refused to leave.

Lilburn officers reviewed video footage of the encounter and gathered statements from staff, security and the driver of the vehicle.

The man was released, facing no charges. But it was found that the guard was not certified through the state. He was arrested and fingerprinted.

The case is still under investigation
