Lt. Rick Holmes wrote in the incident report that he approached a parked red Ford Explorer and asked the driver what he was doing. The man said he was waiting on a friend and “they were going somewhere.”

As they talked, the teen came through the wood line, walked toward the SUV, but then changed directions. The officer told him to stop. The teen, who said he was 15, said he was just going for a walk and that “I’ve never seen that guy before,” according to the incident report. But when the driver was asked if that was the man he was waiting for, he answered “Yes.”
