Inside Police Reports: The Lime Green Shoelaces Gave Him Away

A juvenile out in the wee hours of the morning ends up in police custody after some "hide and seek."

At around 3:45 a.m. on June 7, Lilburn Police at the intersection of Lawrenceville Highway and Arcado Road, requested assistance to transport a juvenile home. A warrant check on the young man was negative and he was advised that officers would need to wake his mother to let her know he had been out and was now home.

That's all. He was just going to get a ride home and mom would find out that he was out.

Instead of getting into the car, however, the young man began to run despite the officer's directions to stop and come back. He was cornered between the Agavero Cantina and the 29 Package where he was hiding behind shrubbery.

"I saw his lime green shoe laces under a bush," the officer said. He commanded him to come out and get on the ground. The officer handcuffed the young man and arrested him for obstruction and furnishing false information.

When they arrived back at the police station, juvenile intake was contacted along with a juvenile probation officer.

The young man's mother was finally contacted and it was found that he had given police the wrong birthday and address.

He was released into his mother's custody with an agreement Guarantee of Appearance in Court.
