Inside Police Reports: Tug-Of-Weed Ends in Injury

A teenage boy trying to make drug deal gets dragged as driver of car takes off with the loot.

In a tug-of-weed, a Lilburn-area teen was injured when he tried to make a drug sale through the window of a car and was dragged down the road.

According to an incident report provided by the police were called around 7:30 p.m. on June 10 to the 4900 block of Valley Dale Drive.

The boy, who was born in 1995 according to the report, suffered leg and hip injuries. He was visiting his girlfriend on Valley Dale Drive at the time of the incident.

At first, he told police that the driver of a white Toyota Corolla grabbed him and dragged him down the road. He said he wasn't sure if the car had run over him.

After talking to witnesses and again with the teen, the officer reported that the teen admitted that he was trying to sell pot to the driver. The driver was allegedly a friend of a neighbor of his girlfriend.

The teen said he approached the car and held out his hand to show the driver the drugs. The driver grabbed the boy's arm, and the boy grabbed onto the driver's arm.

The driver then started to drive away, dragging the teen. According to the report, when the teen "let go of the drugs, the driver let him go."

Witnesses were uwilling to give any information on the driver, so no warrants were issued. The teen and his mother, who was at the scene, were not cooperative about the drug involvement.

The car was described as a white Corolla with a black hood, fender and bumper, with a tan interior, and it had no tags.

The teen was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center.
