Inside Police Reports: Was Car Vandalism a Senior Prank?

Someone went to the extreme to mess with a Lilburn man's car, according to the Lilburn Police Department.

Early morning vandalism to a 2006 Honda Accord had police wondering if it was the product of a strange senior prank.

A Lilburn Police Department officer answered a call around 4:40 a.m. on May 12 from a Durham Ridge Court man who said he was awaken around 3 a.m. and found that his car had been vandalized.

According to the incident report, the crime was more than a little strange.

Someone pulled a neighbor's mailbox out of the ground and put in on top of the car. Chairs were put on top of the hood and the trunk. Another, inexplicably, was placed on the front porch in front of the door. A trash can also was put on top of the car.

That's not all.

A bag of potting soil was opened, poured onto the car, then doused with water. To finish it off, the two rear tires were deflated.

Damages were estimated at $500.

In his report, Officer White wrote, "The incident might be a senior prank due to the fact that the victim's son ... is about to graduate from high school and that no other vehicles were damaged."

The victim told police that a truck with around five unidentified males were seen in the area earlier that night. No other descriptions were given.
