Inside the Police Blotter: Woman Patted Down During Attempted Robbery

A Lilburn woman said a man pointed a gun in her face and demanded money, so when she told him she didn't have any, he patted her down and simply ran away.

A Lilburn woman told police that someone had tried to rob her earlier this month while she was walking back to her apartment.

According to the Gwinnett County Police report, the incident occurred around 10:22 p.m. Feb. 12 at Park Crossing Apartments, located at 2610 Park Crossing Way in the Lilburn area.

The woman, 30, told police that she was walking from her car to her apartment when she saw a suspicious man walking up behind her. He saw her looking at him, so he turned away from her.

Moments later, though, the man turned back in her direction, only this time he was wearing a black ski mask.

He ran up to her with a silver pistol and demanded she give him money, but she screamed that she didn't have any.

He patted her down to see if she was telling the truth, and after he was satisfied, he turned and ran away from the apartment complex. Nothing was taken.

The victim told police that the man was 5'6", 135 pounds and appeared to be young. He was wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt and black athletic pants with a white stripe.
